Here is an actual to-do list from Leonardo da Vinci.

The writing is backwards. Leonardo liked to write backwards with his left hand. I hear it's a Southpaw thing.

Some of these items are...
-- [Ask about] the measurement of the sun promised me by Maestro Giovanni Francese
-- [Calculate] the measurement of Milan and Suburbs
-- [Examine] the Crossbow of Mastro Giannetto
-- Draw Milan

Looking at these items...
There is a task about measuring a complicated system (the city of Milan) and drawing it out to understand it. 🏙

We mostly know Leonardo da Vinci for art like the Mona Lisa, as Mr. and Mrs. Carter demonstrate here in fine form, but... ☝🏿☝🏾☝🏼
Leonardo was quite the technician. In addition to drawing the human anatomy, he frequently drew maps, machines and made all types of engineering illustrations.

What Leonardo understood...
... was not just the role that drawing plays in communication, but how drawing can help us think through and understand the complicated systems we work on in fields such as tech.
Next week, I'm launching a fast, free, 3-day series designed to get you drawing complicated, technical systems for your own understanding and to share with others.

This is definitely for NOT-ARTISTS. I love Leonardo, but I can't sketch like him either 😂 https://appearworks.vipmembervault.com/products/courses/view/1054974
