#COVID19AB
I fear we have lost perspective on the measurable risk of the pandemic for both lives and livelihoods, and while we debate the worst harm, we are losing an opportunity to protect both. This is the worse we've seen so far.
A thread.
@ByMatthewBlack visualizations:
No plateau in hospitalizations, or ICU and we WILL be tight in ICU very soon.
Look at the heatmap coming up - more cases in older people, more deaths....although younger adults may still die or have serious complications too.
Percent positivity increase here makes me worry we aren't testing enough to detect the spread. I used to get antsy at 3% positivity, in the "good old days". Although right now our contact tracing is overwhelmed anyway.
Increasing infection rates with intense transmission in younger adults (20-40 years) but look at the 50's and 60s', over 70's.
I do not want to be a silver medallist here - I don't even want to place in this race. MB is grappling with massive problems in health care capacity. We are hot on their heels.
