Since everyone is talking about hospital utilization, let us cast our thoughts back to early June.

I talked to someone who was an expert in ICU utilization at a time when hospitals were dying for cash b/c they had cancelled all non-COVID procedures https://polimath.substack.com/p/only-the-best-experts
At the time I wrote that piece, a LOT of people (cough, journalists, cough) were still freaking out about ICU capacity and how it was at 70% https://twitter.com/charlesornstein/status/1268261362867884032
Be skeptical about people who want you to freak out. Most people don't freak out about things, they buckle down & try to solve the problem

If you're not familiar with ICU utilization, 90% capacity seems scary. It's less scary the more knowledge you have.
I suspect hospital management in surge areas are keeping an eye on what is going on.

When this started, I worried a lot about how the supply chain would manage with all the lock-downs. It was severely strained, but smart people worked hard & kept things running
