People always say the modern GOP’s rage stems from the Nixon era but I often wonder if it isn’t more about Clinton

They thought they *had us.* Massive Reagan landslide, 12 years of one party with Bush. They thought the executive was their natural right.

Then Bill comes along
Bill Clinton had more charisma than Reagan could dream of. He came from the South & took a swatch of Their States.

Perot split the 92 vote, which gave the GOP the sense that their rightful place had been stolen.

They hated Clinton with a passion that never made sense on its own
Gingrich started the GOP congressional malfeasance we know so well in direct response to America daring not to continue the Reagan era.

The utter loathing the right has had for the Clintons is just not there for anyone else. They saw them as usurpers. They thought they’d won.
Then America had the gall to not get that bothered that they impeached Clinton (for something they clearly have no actual problem with) when their guy had to resign.

There was no way they were going to let Gore take 2000. They had a kingdom to restore.
They hated HRC because she was a feminist in the 80s & wouldn’t bake cookies

But I think they hated her because she was a Clinton, too. She’s part of what ruined their Pax Republicana. She had to be destroyed & the earth where she stood salted. Bill was out of reach. She wasn’t.
