So the reason I only *occasionally* give hot takes on the newest big movie or whatever is that my opinions about things very often change over time. So soon after first seeing a thing, whatever I have to say is often not too well thought-out. 1/8
Side-note, this is also part of why I tend to (under normal circumstances) restrict my full videos to one a month at most: that gives me more time to reflect and formulate a more nuanced opinion of the game I'm covering. 2/8
The overall gist of what I think typically remains the same or similar, but tends to get more supporting details, or add qualifiers. Again, opinions just become more nuanced with more distance and reflective thought on the subject. 3/8
Sometimes, though, my opinion can change completely. When I first saw The Last Jedi, for example, I didn't have a whole lot to say about it. I thought it was good, but nothing particularly special by Star Wars standards. 4/8
But as I thought about it more over the following months, the little thematic connections started to click, and I ended up liking it more and more with each subsequent rewatch. At this point I maintain it's one of the best films in the entire franchise. 5/8
Conversely, there's something like Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. The first time I played it in 2006, I thought it was pretty decent, a satisfying if not standout game for its series. 6/8
These days, I absolutely hate the game. Every time I go back to it, I find something new to complain about. It really is just a poorly-designed, slapped-together game and I could write a full essay about all the ways it sucks. 7/8
So anyway that's why I don't take to Twitter to talk about every new thing I read, watch, or play: because there's a not-remote chance my opinion of it will change given a bit of time. I'll just speak up if I have something I really want to say at the time. 8/8
