Stop fighting ASUU my dear. Fight your Government/leaders for bad governance and the corruption in our country.

"They are fighting for themselves and their pockets"
"They've been striking since, what is the outcome?"

If you won't read the THREAD for understanding, PLEASE PASS!!
Since my secondary school, "ASUU strike, ASUU strike". Now In the University, I have witnessed several, and haven't graduated when I'm supposed to, same with fellow Nigerian Federal University students.

Some are crying of hindrances, their time being wasted, etc etc.
When I say "ASUU is fighting for the betterment of the Federal Universities", alongside their pay, and allowances, some people want to eat me up saying all they wish because "my people perish for lack of knowledge!!!"
I am privileged to attend the same federal University my parents attended (University of Calabar, Nigeria).

If your parents went to school, please ask them, if they didn't, I'm sorry about that.
Quoting my Dad: "As far back as in the 80's, we were admitted as just 23 students in my department, and graduated as just 18 students. We had two AC's in our classroom" Yes Air Conditioner's. "When I tell youths this story, they think I'm lying". He said. Lol don't be shocked yet
"we sat 1 student per desk, and when we went for joint classes, the University rule states that if the students exceeded 20 in a class, the lecturer is expected to lecture with a public address system".

The speakers in some large halls in my school are still there....
But I have sat on the floor severally to receive lectures. Some days when we have Basic medicals or even in year 1 (GSS), when I went late to lecture venues and couldn't secure a front seat, e don be for you, because where are the public address systems for you to even hear ❓🤧
Just get the topic, or even notes from those in front, and go back to your textbook my dear.

Again, my Dad said "we paid 30 naira (N30) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and got 90 meal tickets for a month. If you could afford to pay ninety naira (N90) for a semester(3 months)
"Then you're a well-to-do student.

The refectory was a very large hall with long tables and chairs by their sides. We were not usually many at breakfast and dinner, but soooo many at lunch. Your meal ticket offered you a buffet, where you could choose WHATEVER you wanted to..."
"eat. The chefs were professionally dressed to serve us, with their regalia (chef cap, etc) having UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR, boldly written. The plates we used were quality ceramic(breakable) plates and cutlery that also had UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR written in bold."
"we could choose either beef(cow/goat), chicken, OR ALL, as protein choices, with every meal. When you're done eating, just stand up and leave. There were attendants to clean and clear up, after meals.

On admission, we paid N120 (one hundred and twenty naira only as fees"...
"Accomadation had the highest allocation of the fees with N90 (ninety naira). After payment, we were given a paper slip to take to the hostel, where we met the hostel attendant who confirmed payment. We were given 2 bed sheets, a blanket, toilet rolls and 2 bulbs."
"The bulb is for your corner. When both of them are bad, come for another; the attendant instructed."

I lived in this same hostel in my first year, and I would neither talk about the over crowding, nor the dirty state of the hostel environments, that made me run from it🤧
"I got involved in students politics and was privileged to discover that 4 fat cows were killed EVERYDAY for our beef. 1 Chicken was divided in 4 parts for 4 students, so let me not talk about how many chickens, goats, and eggs that were supplied as protein for students."
"we ate large chunks of beef/chicken with our meals" Dad continued; showing me an approximated quantity by flexing his arm muscles (biceps).
How about the lecturers, other staff and their duties?

"Lecturers were provided with houses, free medical services for themselves, & their families, and even when their vehicles had Mechanical faults, a lecturer would apply easily at the bursary, and would be given twelve"...
"Naira (N12) to repair the vehicle. He/she was to use N10 and take back N2 (two naira) to the bursary as change, after repairing the vehicle.

This was neither part of their salary, nor a loan."
I mean, life was made easy for the lecturers then, and it was more encouraging to lecture.

Even students enjoyed being students.

"Oh, I didn't even add that there were foreign students studying here in some Nigerian Universities & Foreign lecturers too, in some Departments."
Not until Major Gen, became head of state and said " WHATTTT!!! All this enjoyment for what??"

SCRAP SCRAP SCRAP!!! and Nigerian Universities fell.💔💔.

At this point, my Dad said "when I remember all these things, my heart breaks. I just want to die and not see more"💔🤦🏽‍♀️🤧
"The refectories in UNICAL & some other Universities were turned to hostels and different things. The food suppliers, butchers, chefs, cleaners, all those people lost their jobs"💔.

The other generals; IBB, and co continued the pattern and only Pres Obasanjo...
..revived some of the allowances Lecturers lost. Till now, fight upon fight to restore the numerous things that have gone wrong.

Deceit upon deceit, oppression upon oppression as the fight even continues.

In those days, students protested and joined ASUU In solidarity,..
Fight the government for deceiving ASUU and promising to meet their demands if they "just call of the strike".

Fight the government for giving entertainment allowances, snack allowances, newspaper allowances to Senators with little to no deliberation for not even working as much
Somebody said "I'm very sure your parents are lecturers". And so???

Is that even the issue? .

I have never been victimised by SARS before, but was actively RTing, and was out severally for the #EndSARS protests with my resources because the fight is for a good course.
We all know how many years SARS has been disbanded by the FG🤡 but still in operation.

Don't be saying "How many times must they strike".

If there is no corruption and demands were met in the first 2-3 strikes, una no think say we for done progress by now ❓❓❓
