On Oct 22 2014, Corp. Nathan Cirillo, a member of the reserve military, was murdered while he stood on ceremonial guard, at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. This drawing by Bruce MacKinnon gets me in the feels every time.

We see poppies as a symbol, but did you know,
every plastic lapel poppy sold, goes directly towards supporting our Canadian military veterans? They shouldn't have to sell poppies to pay for resources our government should be providing regardless.
