There's more to core than philosophy, writing, history, & literature. Basic science emphasizing the scientific method, skepticism, & reproducibility (& functional knowledge about how the body the planet work). Math/stats to understand how scale and prediction/risk are discussed.
&, certainly not least, its essential to study "non-western" approaches to knowledge & life & not pretend that the Euroamerican episteme has it right (results show it doesn't) & that power dramatically skews human knowledge & thriving not always or even most often for the better.
But none of this narrowly translatable to "meeting state workforce needs" or "entrepreneurship" of Bureau of Labor statistics so...
