1/4 Wow the NHS really comes into its own when planning a rapid vaccine roll-out. It will not be easy with already strained GP practice staff and PCNs but I've every confidence in our wonderful primary care colleagues! I see 3 challenges:- thread below. What are your thoughts?
2/4 Challenge 1- The sheer logistics of delivering the vaccine at pace:
-Procurement of vaccine
-Its distribution and storage
-Delivery locations within each PCN network and the joint working needed to make this happen
-Staff and volunteers to deliver
-Delivery of 2 doses
3/4 Challenge 2- Who to prioritise and how to ensure these patients are reached. At what level is this co-ordination and outreach done learning from some of the lessons of the shielding programme.
4/4 Challenge 3- How to keep urgent primary care open for business despite reduction in available capacity. This additional ask will undoubtedly impact on non urgent primary care capacity-e.g. enhanced services. This will need to be subsequently caught up on
