There’s going to come a point where the media need to stop just reporting what Trump’s doing — as if he's some amusing drunken bear — and start calling for him to be stopped. This isn’t election news any more. The election’s done. Biden won. Trump and the GOP are out of control.

Just like Trump's endless lies over the last four years, flat-reporting without calling out normalizes it. You can't just lift a wry eyebrow like it's the funny spot at the end of the broadcast. He is trying to overturn an election. He is firing military leaders. PAY ATTENTION.

And if almost every tweet is flagged for being a lie, then you know what? Maybe he's a liar. And needs his account suspended. At least for 24 hours. A friend of mine is under a week's suspension for saying he'd like to punch Hannity. But Trump undermining the election is okay???

Of course the media is just supposed to report the news, not BE the news. But you were happy to step into the frame to endorse candidates in the election. Now you need to endorse democracy over authoritarianism — especially as those headlines get seen around the world. Step up.
