As promised, some snapshots from attempts to decolonise IL

Seminar 1: we discussed the ICJ's Lotus case on sovereignty via a feminist lens, w the rewritten judgment by C Chinkin, G Heathcote, @edajones16 and @HenryRGJones. Fab on intersectionality. https://www.bloomsburyprofessional.com/uk/feminist-judgments-in-international-law-9781509914456/ https://twitter.com/CSchwobelPatel/status/1317053712733536256
Seminar 2: on treaties, we discussed unequal treaties and compared the Treaty of Nanking w the Cotonou Partnership Agreement.

Note: students were shocked that this was the 1st time they read the treaty - in the week K Badenoch claimed the curriculum does not need decolonising..
Seminar 4: On self-determination, we discussed the narrowing from concept to right. https://academic.oup.com/ejil/article/27/3/719/2197255

We also discussed the ICJ's Chagos Archipelago decision in this light - part. in the context of the idea of the 'fall of self-determination' per @AdomGetachew's work
