1/4 I’ve seen a lot of people hating on the Blue Sky, White Sun,Wholly Red Earth flag recently. While I understand that for many the flag is a reminder of the atrocities that the KMT has done to Taiwan, let’s not forget the original symbolism behind the flag.

2/4 I believe that the intentions of Sun Yat-Sen were good, and those intentions are represented on the ROC flag. He certainly wouldn’t have imagined that the ROC would become an authoritarian regime for the first 90 years of its existence, nor that it would one day occupy Taiwan

3/4 I obviously wish that one day Taiwan can have its own flag representing its unique identity and values (just not that green one, cause it’s ugly and completely ignores the people of Kinmen and Matsu) ...

4/4 ... but believe that diabolizing an originally symbol of good for the barbarity of a group of idiots is not the way forward. The same way we wouldn't want the swastika 卍 , a thousand years old symbol of peace, to only be associated with nazis.
