Every article was about a diner in [insert white working class town here] full of Trumpers or a cafe in Williamsburg filled with Berners. No one spoke to the enraged black women + men who voted enmasse against the fascist, but were worried the other side hadn’t learnt anything 3/

Hardly anyone spoke to the lgbt ppl, indigenous ppl, Muslim +Jewish ppl, women terrified at what it meant that so many people picked an incompetent conman (and would do it again). Instead they obsessed over a yt flighter to Vermont who has no relationship with black people 4/

Whilst ignoring the fact that that is a profile of a person who would NEVER win a Democratic primary. No one checked in about the fears Hillary voters had of the machine of disinformation & irrational hatred that had sunk her. Because they had fallen for the machine themselves 5/

It was so much easier to buy “Trump only got that much support because we all hate Hillary” ignoring that she was the most admired woman before she ran for president, ignoring that her approvals were always sky high with Black+Hispanic voters, ignoring the populist right+left- 6/

Vilified her. The media and gen public ate it up. Because a lot of you hate women. That’s why I had to laugh as I saw the meltdowns as Florida results came in and people stsrted saying they owed her an apology. Black women already knew this. 7/

Some of us knew Biden would do better with white people & worse with black+brown than her because misogyny is racialized and racism is gendered. But y’all were too obsessed with OurRevolution™ and MAGA to realize the explosion of weaponized hatred that has been happening 8/

Things became even more clear to me as I watched all my preferred POC candidates drop off one by one in the primaries. I didn’t want a white nominee. I didn’t want a male nominee. But it was clear south Dems had wisely realized the monster of Trumpism would not be easy to beat 9/

Even now the power of the cult of misogyny islamophobia racism & misinformation Trump has built is crystal clear, people are still acting shocked. If you had spoken to heartbroken Hillary supporters or southern black voters after ‘16 maybe you would have been less surprised 10/10
