At close to 25 years, Mopomoso is the longest-running unbroken concert series of free-improvised music in the UK, so it was unlikely that something as trivial as a global pandemic would curtail its mission to provide a platform for exploratory music from all over the world.
Since March, the Mopomoso concert series has taken on a modern form in a series of beautiful, monthly broadcasts that are filled with fearless invention and communal energy. Every edition can now be accessed via the new Mopomoso TV site.
The next 2 episodes can be seen live at 2pm on Sunday Nov 14th and 2pm Sunday Dec 20th (UK time) and will be archived for later viewing.
As a progenitor of the improvising tendency, Mopomoso's ongoing artistic legacy is incalculably vast and in a just and sane world its phalanx
of volunteers would be remunerated like lawyers and its founder and primogenitor, John Russell, would have parks and boulevards named after him. You can support Mopomoso by spreading the good word, donating via the site, and treating yourself, or a deserving other, to some of
the extraordinary recordings made for Mopomoso since 1991. As John Russell points out, "It was never free, we fought for it every step of the way!" @jrussguitar @MopomosoT @an_archives @NEWJAiM2020 @cluttermusic @tusk_music @thewiremagazine @derekwalmsley http://tv.mopomoso.com/
