Who you voted for, where you shop, and most of the other reasons you’re judged or “put on a list” would not be known, nor would they matter to other people, outside of the existence & intent of social media. The opinions of people you haven’t personally met wouldn’t matter either
I feel that the benefit of social media has outweighed the cost for me, as I have learned so many new things and “met” so many quality humans. Where else can you have a nifty gif exchange and marvel (and groan) at puns and give excellent food takes that no one else affirms?
But for some, and in certain seasons, I think the cost can overwhelm the benefit. We should wisely consider our use of this medium and what it is doing to us spiritually and emotionally. It has power to waste our most valuable resource (time) and to wreak havoc on our inner lives
At the same time, and especially during this pandemic, this medium is a lifeline for so many.

I regularly hear that Twitter is a “hell site” or a “dumpster fire” but I’ve had many more encouraging and enlightening exchanges on here with siblings in Christ than discouraging ones
I wasn’t really going anywhere with this thread. There’s no conclusion I’ve reached. Just externally processing what I’m thinking and praying about right now. Thanks to all of you who make it worth it to log on.

I’d encourage us all to let Matthew 5-7 guide our use of SM today.
