When I was diagnosed with cancer like the DAY after, I thought about the stuff I’d want to do lots of before I died. Live music was the first thing. I’m grieving the loss of ability to go rock out with people.
That was 9 years ago. I don’t have cancer today that we know of. I just really miss live music.
Sneaking out to go see punk bands as a young person in a culturally isolating southern town was where I found psychic freedom, and then a community that took me in when I needed to run from violence at home at a young age. Live music has always been my religion.
