🚨We have new data from our Opinion Monitor Artificial Intelligence 🚨. This time, we teamed up with @denkfabrik_bmas to investigate perceptions of #AI in the workplace in 🇩🇪.

Below, a short thread with the main insights. #CAISmemoki
Do people believe jobs are at risk?

Only 6% of respondents fear that they lose their jobs due to AI.

However, 18% think that the jobs of friends & family members are at risk.

20% think that AI will lead to mass unemployment.

Sound like a Third Person Effect!
What about discrimination?

54% of respondents believe that social minority groups will experience further disadvantages from AI.

This underlines the need for more research on #FairML.
What will change?

Only few believe that AI will affect their work over the next 5 years.

16% expect effects of AI on income, 21% on career opportunities, 21% on job satisfaction.

Expected changes refer to the security of personal data (42%) & required expertise (38%).
Opportunity or risk?

56% expect positive changes on safety & health in the workplace, 51% on competence requirements & 45% on workload

On the flipside, 64% expect negative effects of AI on social aspects of work & 48% on income
Are there socioeconomic differences?

Education has no effect on fears regarding own job security.

This is curious because low-wage jobs are seen as particularly threatened by automation.
