#OTD 63 yrs ago I like much of N. Europe was celebrating 11th Nov, St Martin's Day, a Feast day & a feast day to celebrate the end of the year.
I, a Trinidadian happened to be visiting Germany & took part in town #Weinheim #martini lantern parade done by children all over 🇩🇪

St Martin of Tours a Roman soldier who cut his cloak in half to share with a beggar in a snow storm, converted to christianity & was buried this day 397AD. The ppl of Tours wanted him as Bishop but he didn't & hid in a geese stable who screamed so much he was found & crowned

Geese play a big role today being eaten in large quantities for their betrayal. It's end of year, agriculturally. Today farm rents are due, final autumn sowing completed & time to eat fattened up animals that one can't afford to keep feeding over winter. I have done it once

Brits with their belief the whole world should be wearing poppies today & attending war memorials will be incensed when they hear much on N.Europe at 11:00am will be celebrating start of Carnival. Mainz, town where #BioNTech is will be semi-closed. It is one of the hotspots
