I chatted to Acting CMO Paul Kelly last week for @SatPaper about vaccine logistics, before the Pfizer announcement. I'll thread some of his comments below
"The Australian Government is committed to providing access to safe and effective #COVID19 vaccines. Access to vaccines is a crucial part of the Government’s response to #COVID19 and its strategy to protect the health and wellbeing of Australians and the Australian economy"
"The Australian Government continues to work to provide Australians with access to a range of successful COVID-19 vaccines.

Decisions on how to best implement a vaccination program are taking into account all available public health, medical and epidemiological data available"
"(Govt) considering advice from a number of experts, incl the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) on the highest priority popn groups & with medical experts & peak bodies on the most effective & efficient arrangements to roll out the vaccination program"
" #COVID19 vaccines are generally being trialled in healthy adults (18-64) in the first tranche, as results have become available vaccine developers have begun expanding the trial cohorts (some 12-18 and others 65-85 and people with comorbidities such as HIV)"
"As further data becomes avail, advice from ATAGI on priority groups will be updated for each vaccine. Different vaccines may vary in their efficacy & suitability for different popn groups & only detailed Phase 3 clinical data will be able to inform prioritisation decisions"
