I'm gonna share my works for #AssassinsCreedValhalla on this thread. You can find those works on the #artstation and #artbook as well. I just wanna add few notes to share the idea and stories behind. Start with Eivor [Thread]
I joined the team a year later since the team had started. Eivor, who's called 'Jora' back then, has shaped in general by @jeffsimpsonkh. Things like hair/eye colors etc. I started work on this outfit with @raphaellacoste almost right after joining the team. it was my second task
My take on Eivor was.. that she's a fierce Viking leader. Her responsibility to her clan was the core of her personality. So I tried to add more anger to her expression. I wanted ppl can smell the blood from her look.
and for the outfit, Directors had a clear idea about this look, so it was easier for me to come up with the design. The sash was originally there for an hommage to Bayek, and later it turns into fabric for more practical usages(swipe the blood)
and the gender-swap idea was already there too. After I shaped the Eivor, I changed her into a man. it should be like identical twins. Btw, In terms of face modeling for the male Eivor, this face became a core ref for the apperance.
I didn't know this outfit will make it to the end as the main outfit. Anyway, After we defined the look, we had to make 3 to 4 versions of it for leveling up system. and also hoodie, and helmet for every outfit. My brain fried sometimes.
and hair, I did a lot of exploration but there are many limitations due to the mesh budget and hoodie mechanics.
Braids are cheaper than loose curly hair, but should not to big on the back (it will pop out through hoodie)
So these were finalists, but it had changed also during the production. As you can see, none of them are the main Eivor hair. 3d artist also designs sometimes. Ian Ladouceur came up with the current hair design later.

and tattoo, and bracers....many details needed to be defined. so the Main look constantly came back over a few months meanwhile I was doing other tasks.
speaking of Tattoo, I got to design our version of #ACSisterhood tattoo design. I will attach discarded versions as well. Original sisterhood design is from @Memento_Gallery.
I was glad when the team asked me. I didn't come out as a dev but I was always watching over.
and sure, Designing outfit is a big part of the job for a Character concept artist. There were big categories for the outfit.. such as .. hunter, warrior, viking, assassins.. these are assassin theme outfit. you can wear a mask instead of helmet.
and outfit after outfit.. you can find them all from my artstation page https://www.artstation.com/vikk8014
and purchasable outfits.. huldufolk and valkyrie theme. all outfits have to have bracers and boots bc of the system. I'd like to draw Eivor in a loose/less layered look someday.
Next up, unique character. I would try to avoid the spoiler as much as I can, or post it later .. so here is Odin, I won't tell much, but there are some reasons why it's designed like this.. but I won't tell!
and Alfred.. costume/body base is from @jeffsimpsonkh , I just designed his face, he's a ..sickly clever young man. just like history.. this concept is used for the trailer (it looks a bit diff in the game)
and Kjotve.. He was called Kjoteve the rich back then. you can see I used layers of rich color, accessories, etc. and yet he has to look like a Viking warrior. personally, I had a hard time on this bc I had to design the pose and look at the same time.
and Ivar, from the direction I got, the 'boneless' part wasn't important. inspiration was old Iggy pop. he's like an unpredictable rockstar in my understanding. I tried to deliver the impressions and personality on this so ppl can easily imagine his movement and much more.
