So why is Trump firing high level officials? Unfortunately, there are a few possibilities. 1. Trump wants to put people in those positions to destroy documentation. 2. Trump wants to have those individuals resist a peaceful transfer of power. (1/4)

3. Trump wants those individuals to quickly rewrite policy and reconfigure those agencies. One of the recent Executive Orders he signed allows departments to reclassify policy-making employees as Excepted Service, making them easier to terminate for no reason. (2/4)

This means he can place political appointees in those slots for the next few weeks & create chaos or potentially destroy a large part of the federal workforce out of spite - thereby increasing unemployment and creating more of an economic disaster during a global pandemic.
