1) As a botany nerd and all the years studying plants on my free time, it's difficult not to pay attention to them in the games I play! I often think about the time I played Assassin's Creed Odyssey and I stumbled upon these and I felt like sharing!
2) First of all, I loved the game and I do believe the story and franchise allow a lot of creative freedom from the devs, which could indeed justify the stuff I'll show,
BUT the whole point is to show you guys that gamedev can benefit from some botany knowlege :)

3) The first pic shows an Opuntia ficus-indica, or "prickly pear", in game (which is a cactus- not a fig, nor a pear, nor from India) that can be found in abundance around the mediterranean TODAY but that is originally from mesoamerica, more specifically Mexico!
4) The issue is that the game is set between 431–422 AD, so there's no way these plants could have existed in ancient Greece, since european contact with the americas only happened on the 16th century!
5) Curious fact: The mexican flag features that same cactus, which recalls the story/myth of the foundation of Tenotchitlán (in which their founders were signalled of the location of the future city when they saw an eagle eating a serpent on top of that opuntia)
6) Same thing here for the Bougainvillea. We often see those beauuuutiful greek islands full of those white buildings and the pinkish bougainvilleas perking through, right? They're so greek, right?
7) WRONG. Bougainvilleas are native to South America. Most of them happen around the region I come from (Atlantic forest).
CURIOUS FACT: The world's largest Bougainvillea is from the town of Lambari, in Minas Gerais region. Yep, it's a tree.

8) Plants tell us beautiful stories of human connections that transcends some of the geographical barriers we know of, HOWEVER they're still bound to time events. I know the game allows that sorta freedom, and I'm just being picky (and maybe extra nerdy here)?
9) Anywaaaay that's the end of my peeve thanks if you read it till the end
