EXCL: Scotland's test and trace system - Test & Protect - is performing much worse than official data had claimed.

Public Health Scotland botched its reporting, meaning official data the public has been fed for weeks was far rosier than the reality.

Corrected Public Health Scotland data shows that in 5 of 8 weeks in Sep & Oct, Test & Protect failed to interview approx half of positive "index" cases within 24 hours of being notified (see bold below in my summary).

Public health experts say speed is of the essence.
Here are some of the Test & Protect figures that have been corrected. These are the 3 key measures related to T&P taking **less than 24 hours** to:
a) interview +ve person after test takes place
b) interview +ve person after T&P notified of result
c) complete contact tracing
Some more example figures... Under the old (incorrect) reporting method, it was claimed 8,262 positive cases waited more than 24 hours to be interviewed by Test & Protect (Aug to Oct).

It turns out the actual total was 15,291
Under the old (incorrect) reporting method, it was claimed Test & Protect took more than 24 hours to complete 17,225 contact-tracing cases (Aug to Oct).

It turns out the actual total was 23,828
Public Health Scotland say the “impact of the error” means the “weekly proportion within 24 hours” under 3 performance measures has "reduced” while “24-48, 48-72 and over 72 hours has increased”

In short, things are much worse than they'd claimed

The significant corrections to Test & Protect data were inserted at weekend, between the Nov 4 weekly publication and tomorrow's. Oddly, Public Health Scotland changed the red font (used to alert people to revisions) to black today, when I started making inquiries
