After naming Raheem Morris interim HC last month, Falcons owner Arthur Blank joked that Morris would be considered for permanent job if he went 11-0. The joke fell flat with me considering the league's recent abysmal record on diversity hires, so I asked him about it ...
"The reality is, in all of our businesses & me personally, I am colorblind," he said. "I would have made that same comment no matter who the interim coach would've been. I don't think we should make a head coach selection or a GM selection based on the color of somebody's skin...
" I clearly think that diversity _ people know who I am and what I am in that regard. Raheem will be looked at as any other coach will be." I later pointed out to Blank that only 1 of his 19 team execs is a POC. His response: "We have to do better."
To be clear, Blank is a good man who has created numerous opportunities for POC in and around Atlanta. But there remains work to be done.

Forgot to mention, Blank told @wyche89 and me that he, Blank, was bringing in two league officials this week _ EVP of Football Ops Troy Vincent and Chief People Officer Dasha Smith _ to brainstorm on ways to address diversity and inclusion within the Falcons organization.
