I’ve fallen into a YouTube hole & have decided to compile a thread of some of the worst Irish accents in films (sure what else one I be doing with my time?).
10. Kate Hudson in About Adam. In comparison to some of the others on the list she sounds she’s been reared in Ranelagh.

9. Kim Cattrall - A Winters Tail. I’ve never heard of this one before but it makes me wish there was a Sex and the City spin-off were that followed Samanthas Irish cousin Róisín and her misadventures in the Emerald Isle.
8. Gerard Butler - P.S I Love You. This is a classic. I mean at what point in rehearsals or at ANY stage of production did ANYONE think that this was a convincing accent?
7. Julia Roberts - Mary Reilly. The fact that this was made BEFORE she starred in Michael Collins and yet was still cast should be certified as one of life’s greatest mysteries.
6. Tom Cruise - Far and Away. Sometimes I worry we’re the problem? Like is this what we actually sound like and we’ve convinced ourselves otherwise? Either way this is SHOCKING and Tom should be ashamed of himself.
5. Russel Crowe - Winter’s Tale. Listening to this makes me think all the stories he’s told over the years of his love for Ireland have been fabricated and therefore he’s not to be trusted.
4. Brad Pitt - A Devil’s Own. This is Brads first of 2 entries. It’s literally a sh*t show from here on in.
3. Sean Connery - Darby O’Gill and the Little People. This is the oldest one I could find. It’s all Sean Connery’s fault. He provided the blue print of what was acceptable for all sh*te Irish accents going forward.
2. Justin Theroux - Charlie’s Angel Full Throttle. I hope whoever the voice coach was took a long hard look of themselves in the mirror after seeing the final result. To quote that lady from Game of Thrones ‘SHAME, SHAME, SHAME’.
1. Brad Pitt - Snatch. TBH I can’t even tell what accent he’s attempting. Either way present him with the crown because it’s by far the worst!
