Why I identify as pansexual vs. bisexual, and what those terms mean to *me*.

Please note, how someone identifies is very personal, as is what terms they use and what those terms mean to them. This is just *my* thought process on it all (a thread). (1/6)
To me, bisexuality acknowledges the presence of sexual attraction toward two genders: male and female.

Pansexualilty, on the other hand, refers to the presence of sexual attraction to *all* gender identities. (2/6)
I don't believe people who identify as bisexual harbor any ill feelings or disgust toward gender identities outside the binary, they simply aren't sexually attracted to them. Which is A-Okay, folx. That's the name of the game here. We all have different desires and tastes. (3/6)
I am *not* trying to support bi-erasure by choosing to identify as pan. Nor am I trying to "muddy the waters" by tossing an "unnecessary label" into the mix. I truly believe pansexuality is different than bisexuality. Not better, not worse, just different. (4/6)
I wish the #LGBTQ+ community would stop fighting itself from within. We are all valid, and we all deserve to identify in whatever way feels closest to our present reality. Identities flux over time, which means a person's self-identified labels will fluctuate too. (5/6)
At the end of the day, it shouldn't matter how your fellow LGBTQ+ community members identify. We all face our own unique struggles, and this community is supposed to be here as a safe, supportive space. Let's keep it that way by respecting one another across the board. (6/6) ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒˆ
