What Reason Could I Give
An all out stunning song in every way that you might as well just hear for yourself. Each line by each instrument is immaculate.

Moonlight Desert
Now that is a way to start a performance. Right from the jump a frenzy occurs, and then appears the theme that's just so dramatic and explosive. The whole thing is a real theatrical experience

My Favorite Things Belgium 1965
The sound of this set is so vibrant and full, and this year in Coltrane's music was a perfect halfway point where he was just crossing over to the Aylerian direction of the avant-garde. This brings the most of the E Major section of the standard

Train Stop
Wright's rugged and velvety tone and sheer intensity comped by Ali's rattling marches blows me away every time, especially in the climaxes present in these clips. The first with a bit that sounds like a train grinding to a halt, it's just so wild and chill-inducing.

Fire of the Spirits
This intro is so wild. With the closing of No End, the horns blowing away the sharp opening motif upon the bowing of the bass grants a sensation of sinking so palpable. Generally the quintet is fantastic at creating depth and this is a key moment of that.

Meditations/Leo
Must be the most intensely enchanting beginning to a performance I've ever heard. It's just ridiculous how moving it is, but with a strong tension intact as the primal motif of Leo sounds. The entrance of all performers with the wave of cheers rushing in and

cresting back is just cinematic. The entire thing is a massive ride, some of the greats sculpting this nigh 45 min. whirlwind of sound.
Pieces I-II
The whole song is such an incredible development, and it's really something that works best as a whole as the song blends into this harsh wall of noise helped by the production and Hooker's ultraviolent barrage effectively weaponizing his drum set.

Naima
A thunderous mourning and celebration of John Coltrane in the form of solo piano takes on a standard of his. Such a stunning beginning.

Promise
An interpretation of another Trane composition, it's clear that Tyner goes in a very particular rhythmic and textural route, much separated from past swinging jazz and much more forward as evidenced by this bouncing section.

Ghosts: First Variation
Absolutely remains my favorite song of all time. the sputtering rhythms melting into one another and Ayler's jagged screams are perfection. I get chills when Ayler initiates that low growling and Peacock plays into it with a couple of low E hits.

Emanation
This one is absolutely wild. Some brilliant accompniment on the drums for Rivers's frenetic flute/vocal perfomance that should speak for itself

Dedicated to Composer John Cage
I understand that this is hardly jazz music by any definition outside of the broad consideration of faithfulness to composition. However it's too good not to include. Who knows what came over Braxton for this equally methodical and ferocious take
