in my opinion, it's the moon, let me tell you why

while the three planets here are all the places i'd go for most thinking, the process of imagination involves a temporary suspension of reason in order to engage with the fantastical and the mythic https://twitter.com/byprieta/status/1326218066754146306
in order to be imaginative, we have to turn off the parts of our mind that tell us what is and is not allowed. we have to be open to the impossible, to the symbolic, without trying to make sense of it in the moment. the internal editor is antithetical to imagination
in this way, imagination is a noctural process. the thinking of the diurnal is highly directed, focused on goals and meaning and and clear directions. the nocturnal provides us a space to leave behind the need for an end goal. it takes the pressure off
i personally think this is a three planet stack that can take us from imagination into fully formed ideas and beliefs. think about dreams. have you ever had an idea in a dream that turned into something real? that process of dreaming, of shutting off consciousness
is fundamentally lunar. mercury, the divine messenger, is the way we carry the ideas of imagination into words that can be expressed in a real, and directed world. think about writing down your dreams in the early morning, trying to capture the essence of your experience
mercury is the go-between for the conscious and unconscious. they take imagination and turn it into something that can be shared and translated. and this is where jupiter comes in. jupiter takes the ideas of the moon, translated by mercury, and runs with them
jupiter is brilliant, theoretical, zealous at times. but jupiter is conscious. jupiter (with the help of mercury) makes meaning out of what we imagine and places it into larger context. jupiter is also the one who teaches these ideas and passes them along
remember that jupiter exalts in the moon's domicile. jupiter provides some essential function for the moon, namely that of teaching and refining that which is imagined and created in the depths of lunar consciousness
anyway, tl;dr: the moon is imagination, mercury as the messenger translates imagination to consciousness, and jupiter makes meaning of the translation
