Small Business owners: If lockdown is an inevitability, when do you want to lockdown? Now? Two weeks before Christmas? This sucks! COVID sucks but what is our role in getting closer to the other side of this? #ableg
As a hairdresser do you want to lose your pre holiday business after being slower all year? As a retail shop do you want to lose Christmas traffic in the weeks prior to the holidays or Boxing Day? #AbLeg
As a gym do you want people to feel confident to come see you in your huge money making month - January? #ableg
Hospitality is screwed no matter what because unless you have a solid take out game, you don’t make money without butts in seats. However, will we make more money in December than Nov? Probably! #ableg
Don’t you want some form of control? Don’t you want to say, ok shut us down Friday as opposed to getting stocked for the weekend and being forced in to a shutdown - Now or in December? #ableg
The feds have announced 90% coverage for fixed expenses for businesses forced in to lockdown again. (As soon as the legislation is passed..ahem..let’s go @JustinTrudeau, @mary_ng) #ableg
If @jkenney cares so much about restaurant recovery he would top up the other 10% for hospitality and flatten this curve. I know 4.7 billion reasons why he could and should. We are actually creating jobs in this province. #ableg
This will not be easy but what is the business and economic upside of doing nothing right now? As entrepreneurs we assess risk and return all the time. I want to risk a two week shutdown now for the potential of bigger returns in Dec. #ableg
If this government actually cares about small business and the economy then I call on them to deliver the kind of leadership that the current situation in Alberta calls for. @jkenney @CMOH_Alberta #ableg
At this point we can not stick our heads in the sand and act like it’s not an inevitability. I would like to be able to say we as a business community stood up for healthcare before the military is here building field hospitals. #ableg
For those reading this that aren’t small business owners, I think it’s imperative that you understand this is a huge sacrifice for a lot of us. Especially small independents. Facing bankruptcy and losing your livelihood in this climate is paralyzingly. #ableg
I certainly do not speak for all of hospitality (or small business) but I‘m angry at the lack of leadership and I am choosing to listen to the 70+ frontline physicians who signed a letter demanding a circuit breaker shutdown. SHUT US DOWN! @jkenney @CMOH_Alberta #ableg
