The Masters Thread #themasters

Augusta National

*Plays longer than recorded
*Bryson said not to have 48 inches in has bag(!)
*Class normally rises to the top
*Winner usually comes from the top 30 in the world (or
thereabout)
*There will be a cut of the top 50 (from 90ish)
*The 50 cut is instead of the +10 rule this year
*Weather looks as if it could have rain on all or most days
*Storms could be around on day 1 (AM)
*Course experience is usually beneficial (I suspect it is why we have a best debutant betting market)
*World No.1 Generally doesn't win this (Woods in the 90's last to do this)
*Dustin Johnson currently world No.1
*I don't back fav's if i was I'd look at Rahm and Koepka
*Winners of the week before generally dont go so well (Ortiz)
*Expect winning score to be between -4 and -8 (closer to -4 though)
*Skybet going 11 places on betting but only top price on a handful of golfers.
*Other sites better odd's for 8/9/10 places - choose carefully.
This weeks picks

FRL :
S. Munoz - 90/1 6 places (Various)
T. Finau - 30/1 8 places
L Oosthuizen - 45/1 8 places

I am using @Betfair this week for Finau and Oosty as they pay 8 places on the FRL market (might be handy with scoring tight and potential for ties early on)
Outright Selections
(7 picks - 3 short, 3 mid & 1 long odds)

Tyrrell Hatton 28/1 9 places William Hill (short price)

Form of his life, never higher in the world than this year, won the Arnold Palmer, scores very well on PAR 4 courses.
Tony Finau 28/1 9 places William Hill (short price)

Frustrating most of the time, occasionally brilliant. Has a great record here in two appearances 10th and 5th.

Lead in form is solid
Webb Simpson 33/1 10 places Betfair (short price)

Gone under the radar, 5 good efforts in the past 12 weeks all in and around the top 10/20. Career best here last year 5th and a nice price with the comfort of 10 places.
Jason Day - 40/1 - 8 places Bet 365 (mid price)

If he is fit, this is a cracking price. 7th last week tells us his game is in good nick.

Course form is solid, 3 top 10's plus 3 further top 20's likes it here and iron game is sound
Justin Rose - 66/1 8 places Bet365 (mid price)

This is a price selection not going to lie, usually 30's for majors. Recent form poor, 17th 3 weeks ago suggests hope.

Great record at Augusta, 4 top 10 plus further 3 top 20's.

Loves Augusta (except last year where he MC'd!)
Jason Kokrak - 75/1 8 places B365 (mid price)

Risky choice as he's a debutant & they generally don't play well for 4 rounds at Augusta (I have him in FRL market), but lead in form is great won the CJ Cup

inside the top 30 for PAR 4 scoring could be one of the better outsiders
Ian Poulter - 125/1 - 8 places - Bet 365 (long odds)

WD from the Houston Open (prior) due to his back not being right so price reflects risk. Good lead in form prior and solid around Augusta
Near Misses

Here are those that didn't make the selection but got close :

Van Rooyen, Ancer, Munoz, Smith, Champ and Molinari
