Good morning, I'm at Laurelhurst Park where perhaps 50 protesters are here to protect a large homeless camp from destruction at the hands of the policei
It should go without saying that everyone has to live somewhere. Forcing houseless people to move every few days and destroying the few possessions they own is not a solution. It's a way to sweep the problem under the rug so the community doesn't have to think about the problem
I just heard from @45thabsurdist that police told people they won't be doing the sweep today

I pass @KGWNews interviewing a couple of the camp residents, which seems important. The two people being interviewed seem pleased with the efforts

@tents4homes also does awesome things: they provide tents, tarps, and sleeping bags to the houseless community. This is real important as we head into the cold and rainy winter

"Taking people's property away does not make them disappear, but it does make their plight more deadly." Cold can kill. Stress, dehumanization, and destruction of community injures in more subtle ways.
