In the end, and I am being serious here, there will always be white political journalists who will revel in the fact that Latinos could vote for the GOP, as if to discredit Latino and Latina voices who have said that we have never voted as one bloc.
It's as if they want to ignore us. As if what we have been saying for years is not valid and it is only valid because the glorious white political journalists have discovered this now.
Which is why in the end, I don't pay much attention any more. The only way we move forward as a community is to create our own lanes, support the work of the people who have been doing it for years and not get all caught it mainstream acceptance.
We will never achieve it. Because in the end, the mainstream will never cede the power. I also know that many in the mainstream who are Latino and Latina FIGHT EVERY DAY to push it, which is also great. But I never want to be checklist item, so our goal is to create new outlets.
Create new voices and opportunities. It is a much longer-term play but eventually it will get to the chipping away at the media power structure that has left us out for so long.

Seguimos.
So while there are those who challenge the power within, there must be those who challenge the power from the outside. I chose the outside path for now and that gives me the editorial freedom to take risks, be a bit bolder. Let's do it.
