Getting a new kitten in two hours (orphaned, found in the woods, no idea age or sex until vet visit later)!

Give me your best advice for kitty caretaking because we haven’t had one in our home in 20 years.

Called the vet's office this morning.

Tech: Can I get some information from you? What's the kitten’s breed?

Me, a smart person: Uhhhh... it's... grey?

Tech: I'll just put "domestic shorthair."

Lookit this baaaaaaybeeee! Still not sure of sex but provisionally called Leo. He’s dinky - like 1.5lbs.

Sleeping on the 7yo, who is beyond thrilled.

Ok just one more. Poor thing is exhausted after his exciting day of crossing state lines and hanging with the 7yo.

Vet is 99% sure the kitten is male, but I guess he’s too young to have descended testicles yet. So we’ll see... Leo for now, Cleo if it’s a girl.

Leo is 6 weeks old, which means he basically shares his birthday with the 7yo. He’ll get more vaccines in a couple weeks and neutered when he’s big enough. But vet says he seems healthy, and we’ll be introducing him to various parts of the house over the next week.

I came in like a wrecking baaaaall...

Smol Boi Leo woke up at 5:30 am desperate to play. Now won’t let me answer email.

(Not sure how he got into the dirty clothes hamper, since it’s taller than I thought he could jump, so I did extract him.)

Leo started 2nd grade this morning.

Leo did a bang-up job in elementary school yesterday, so he’s been promoted to the 6th grade today.

Leo is now 8 weeks old and pretending to be a meerkat.

This dumdum keeps trying to drink my G&Ts. And then he eats my hair.

The only good reason to decorate a tree.

The 7yo insisted Leo needed his own Xmas stocking.

Currently reading through RPA intern applications because I desperately need to replace this one -- he's not particularly good at organizing paperwork.

Slept in bed with us all night, and is apparently still tired this morning.

Leo is enjoying his new stuffed snowman-rat this icy Xmas morning.

Leo also realized just this morning he could climb trees. And seems curious about his face on socks.
