This UCP government has absolutely no sense of the responsibility that comes with governing. There are a lot of things to object too about them - but I think this one bothers me most (though it’s not an easy choice).

They think an election makes them kings.

Thread. #ableg
I got into politics because I thought we needed less reliance on failed trickle down policies and more investment in upstream intervention. I feel passionately about it, always have. But the UCP bother me on a more fundamental level, and I have been thinking about why. 2/ #AbLeg
They feel no sense of responsibility to be honest or transparent with the public, no sense of responsibility to govern for everyone, no sense of responsibility to the future of this province.

Being elected come with both privileges and duties, they ignore the duties. 3/ #AbLeg
Different governments will approach things from different perspectives (that is kinda the point of democracy). They will have different views of how we make a better province for us all. But at least there is a common goal - to make life better for all. 4/ #AbLeg
The UCP lack that common goal - they laugh at the idea of making life better for all.

With no sense of responsibility they don’t think they owe answers to the public, don’t think they need to consider evidence or facts, and feel justified using any means to keep power. 5/ #AbLeg
In short, they are a problem government of a different type. I don’t just disagree with them on policy, I disagree with them on the purpose of government. I believe it is to serve the people - they just don’t.

It’s hard to find common ground with people like that. 6/6 #AbLeg
