I totally get the desire to celebrate Trump's defeat the other day, and there did seem to be widespread mask use, but it really feels like we're at a scary moment with COVID spread, and that can't have helped.
... One of my current concerns: I suspect that a growing number of people are continuing to work, particularly in service industry jobs, after testing positive. I've heard some anecdotal things, and it makes sense....
... For one thing, the people getting it now including more working-age people, where it was more in the retirement-age demo before. And more of those service businesses are open and operating now, unlike the wide shutdowns. ...
... Most of the furlough situations are over now. Stimulus payments have ceased. Christmas spending season is upon us. There's just a lot of factors suggesting more pressure & opportunity for people to keep working. ...
... Of course, this means deceiving one's employer, not giving proper info for contact tracing when tested, and risking the health of co-workers, customers, etc. We know from non-pandemic times that in US capitalism people will do that, and employers will be lax about it. ...
... Anyway, didn't mean to start rambling here, but things are bad and getting badder and I don't care for it.
