Way fewer of those voters are part of the cult than the cult would like us to believe.

Nothing is gonna bring Trump's True Believers to the table. Ignore them. They're the minority of the Trump voters.

There's not 70 million of them. https://twitter.com/_T_DEL/status/1326191393426075650
The Trump cult has circles just like many other large cults or secret societies.

The largest, outermost circle is populated with people who basically see it as little more than a benign club or hobby and don't really see it for what it is

The inner circles are different.
The outer circle, not being regularly exposed to the deeds of the inner circle is a great support and defense mechanism because they won't understand why critics are so irrationally angry at their hobby club.

So they will help to push back on the criticism as unreasonable.
They weren't there to engage in the acts of the inner circle, (which are often so outlandish that even if you told them, they wouldn't necessarily believe it) and they reject the characterization of the cult as applying to them as a whole.

They're insulated from seeing it.
A LOT of people voted for Trump honestly not understanding what the fuss was about.

Largely because they were fed an entirely different set of facts the whole time.

And as long as it's a game of whose word matters, they'll stick with their guy.

You are not representative of the country at large.

Most people aren't as aware as you are.

And this isn't a value judgment.
