Lets be real here, the vaccine isn't magically going to circumvent all checks and be mass available before Christmas. The trial will be properly finished. The post licensing studies will be done etc. This doesn't magically change the way research works.
We haven't gone from new disease to vaccine that looks like its working in 10 months because we circumvented all science.

We did it because for the first time in real history the world put mass money and resources into a medical problem and its produced results.
What got us this was the fact the covid vaccine teams have had unprecedented numbers of staff, research funding, help and support. It's proof that medical research problems are not inherently uncureable but that more funding produces more science. Fucking wild idea.
Who would have thought that giving scientists the resources they needed to do the thing you want them to do means they can do the thing.

You've all expected unrealistic returns on pitiful funding for far too long.
People say to me, "oh we can't cure cancer, they've been doing it for so loooooong oh its so useless" and its like, yeah <5% of cancer research grants get funding.

With that 5% of research ideas getting funded in the last 40 years the mortality rates from cancer dropped 50%.
