I've been asking myself this question: how WOULD less funding for police translate to more murders? Logically, it's hard to imagine. Journalistically, it doesn't hold up. Experts told me many homicides are personal. Police aren't in our homes stopping us from killing people.
Lastly, I'll point out that Austin's murder rate per 1,000 residents was higher in 2010. Which is the metric we should be using to talk about this anyway.
