We are so pleased to hear that Mary Wollstonecraft finally has her own statue to recognise her important work. To celebrate, our #RareBookOfTheWeek is our 1st edition of 'A Vindication of the Rights of Woman' (1792) #VindicationForMary
This was the first book to argue that women's rights should be the same as men's. Wollstonecraft said women should be treated as 'rational creatures' not 'as if they were in perpetual childhood, unable to stand alone'.
You can find out more about women, past and present, who have campaigned for women's rights in exhibitions and events @LKN_Libraries across the UK. All inspired by the British Library's new exhibition #UnfinishedBusiness https://www.bl.uk/living-knowledge-network/whats-on
