When trying to support people over the years with mental health illness, I’ve always used the analogy of our mental health being akin to a house.

With these metaphorical four walls & roof, we hope to have our well-being, peace & happiness at its best.

1)
When we are ill, this crumbles slate by slate & brick by brick.

How far it does is down to our individual situation & circumstances.

I hope that amongst the fog of mental illness this simple visualisation helps those in such a confusing time, to hold on to something.

2)
I hope it simplifies. I hope it gives stability of an unstable situation.

Every small step. Every seemingly innocuous positive action, places a brick back in your foundation walls.

Building something solid, takes time. Takes patience.

Yet it’s so important to visualise

3)
As those bricks will again become one wall. Then two. Until you place that last slate back on your roof.

Healing takes time. Takes patience. Takes self-kindness.

There are people here that have put a brick down for me.

Thank you.
