It’s certainly fun to write that Trump disinviting the Eagles to the White House is what pitted our city against him, but the real first shots fired by Trump against the city of Philadephia was the Muslim ban he signed a week after he took office #PAyback https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/09/us/politics/biden-trump-philadelphia-pennsylvania.html#click=https://t.co/2TDryOWR0M
In that moment Trump drew a clear line in the sand, and Philadelphians would stand on the right side of history. Mayor @JimFKenney and then chief of staff @janeslusser rallied city electeds and activists to head to the airport and shut it down #PAyback
Councilmember @HelenGymPHL put on the progressive Bat Signal, and before you knew it, there was a traffic jam on 95 South headed to the airport with so many people headed to the international arrivals terminal to stand up for our immigrant neighbors #PAyback
Senator @Bob_Casey rolled in decked out in formal white tie & tails (having abruptly left a charity event), followed by Gov. @TomWolfPA and Reps. @DwightEvansPA, @BobBradyPHL, @RepHarris, @BrianSimsPA and a few hundred determined citizens #PAyback
It was a frightening evening, certainly for the families at the airport, but for everyone as it was clear we were entering a long four years of authoritarian - and yes, fascist - rule, by a cowardly wannabe strongman #PAyback
