I deleted that suspension tweet bc I'm really struggling with the way y'all keep putting Kamala on everything. Yes, she is a Black woman but I know (for a fact) that she doesn't share *my* experiences as a poor/working class, darker skinned, queer Black girl in Oakland.
Her Blackness is her own. And I have no intention of undermining it. I just don't want to participate in the charade where pretend she isn't biracial and extremely privileged due to skin tone, featureism, textureism, and classism.
Kamala is a Black woman, yes. She is an AKA who went to Howard. These are facts.
She's also in a very well-to-do, very white family. Many of her family members are white or white passing. While she was born there, she did not grow up in Oakland. And, Blackness is not monolithic.

Let's celebrate this moment. Let's honor our ancestors like Chisholm, Angelou, Morrison, Truth, Tubman, and the like. But, let's not flatten all of their experiences as Black womxn. It's violent. It's dishonest. It's ahistorical.
We can all be Black differently. And we can be honest about that, fam.
