THREAD

What is missing in the #Artsakh ceasefire agreement is any tiny bit of humanity towards or hope for #Armenia|ns. All humanitarian parts of the UN resolutions and the Madrid Principles have been left out on purposed (as #Aliyev smilingly announced).
(sorry being negative!)
UN res. 822 (2) urges both parties to immediately resume negotiations fopr the resolution of the conflict within the #OSCE Minsk Group.

The now signed deal makes no mention of this. #Artsakh's future won't be determined by the OSCE anymore, but AZ, RU, AM and TR. Bad news!
UN res. 822 (3) called for unimpedent access of international humanitarian relief and adherence with humanitarian law.

This was left out, too. #Azerbaijan and #Russia will now decide if humanitarian relief is allowed or hum law will be adhered to. Bad news, too.
UN res 853 (2) condemned attacks on civilians and bombing of inhabited areas.

The new treaty does not condemn anything and has no clause that calls for justice for war crimes, crimes against humanity, etc. - which happened daily according to @hrw.
UN res 853 (5) calls for the resoration of all transport, economic and energy links.

The new deal only speaks of the #Nakhchivan- #Azerbaijan road and the #Lachin corridor. Other borders stay shut, #Armenia remains (almost) locked up.
UN res 853 (10) urged other states to refrain from selling arms to the region.

The new deal makes no mention of that. #Turkey, #Israel and others will keep shipping arms to #Azerbaijan, now all the way to #Shushi. #Russia keeps selling to both.
The Madrid Principles (2): demanded "an interim status for Nagorno-Karabakh providing guarantees for security and self-governance"

There is no interim status and no guarantees for security or self-governance in the future in the new deal. There is just insecurity.
The Madrid Principles (4) further demanded a "future determination of the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh through a legally binding expression of will"

The expression of will of the people plays no role in the current treaty. Aliyev made clear there will be no referendum.
Madrid Princ (6) called for "international security guarantees that would include a peacekeeping operation."

The peacekeepers are not "international" anymore - but Russia and Turkey.
Tiny correction - the new deal speaks of "unblocking all economic and transport links", too. But as #Turkey has not signed it, this is just binding for #Azerbaijan and #Armenia.
If the #OSCE Minsk Group would have done their job, the #Armenia- #Turkey border would open, too.
