'LUCK FACTOR' in Messi vs Ronaldo debate. A thread.
Imagine if:
1) Higuain didn't miss in the WC Final.
2) Terry never slipped in 2008 CL Final.
3) Ramos never scored the 92:48.
4) Eder didn't score in the Euro Final.
5) The ARG players scored their penalties in 2015 Copa Final.
Imagine if:

All the above 5 moments, both Messi and Ronaldo had no control over. Yet, they play a HUGE role in the debate.
Imagine if they all happened the other way around: then Ronaldo would have had 2 less UCLs and one less Intl. trophy, while Messi would have had a World Cup AND a Copa.

Also, this would have probably meant AT LEAST one more Ballon D'or and other individual awards for Messi, which now Ronaldo has.
Simply, there would have never been a debate.

It is funny how 'more UCLs + Intl. trophy' is the primary argument Ronaldo fans have but he was heavily carried by his teammates, circumstances and luck for it. I mean, how often do you see a penalty slip in a UCL final !?

There are quite more incidents like these and that is why 'team' trophies should never be given much importance while comparing two 'individual' players.
It most of the time pushes a false narrative and wrongly overrates one's career while unfairly underrating the other's.

Not only based on the said incidents but throughout their careers, it surely can't be denied that Messi has been extremely unlucky, while on the other hand, Ronaldo has been very fortunate with it.
It's amazing that how inspite of all of this, it is widely accepted that Messi is the GOAT, as it should be. Only goes to show how much Messi has dominated the game even then and how great he is. Greatness is Greatness, no matter what. End of thread.
