1/6 UK Government computer systems totally UN-ready for Brexit.

November 9th the CHIEF customs system is still taking specification requests to design the system due to be running in seven and a half weeks.
2/6 THREE new IT customs systems "are being developed" to replace the perfectly good ones that we use at the moment but we lose access to when we leave the EU in seven and a half weeks time...

Safety and Security,
Computerised transit systems, and
Excise Movement Systems.
3/6 Gvmnt say they are "reasonably confident" that these 3 systems will be "ready for testing" by the end of 2020.

Another NEW system called the "Goods Movement System" to help reduce delays on imports through UK ports. This system is "running" on Gvmnt website but there are no
4/6 interfaces for hauliers and logistics companies to enter information electronically.... or indeed they don't even know which ports will be using this system.. YET. Seven and a half weeks to go.

But none of that is "causing concern"!

The one that is the "problem" is the ..
5/6 is the Customs Declaration System or CDS, which will replace the legacy CHIEF system and is essential for GB-Northern Ireland trade.

There are "GRAVE CONCERNS" about CDS, mainly because testing is not due to begin until December 2020.

Seven and a half weeks to go...
6/6 and THAT my friends is just the very first few minutes of this 90 minute evidence session to the Commons EU Goods sub-Committee yesterday 9th November 2020.
