“Defund the police” became a thing because the Democratic Party had NO MESSAGE on police brutality. Yes, Republicans weaponized it. They weaponize everything — have you noticed them sarcastically yelling “peaceful protest”? 1/
Maybe activists didn’t come up with the best term. It isn’t their fault the party was caught flat footed. That’s on the party. Get a message for every key issue. Repeat it. Go to progressive and mainstream media. Repeat it. 2/
Stop blaming activists for your message failure. This is on you. Do a better job. 3/3
Addendum: Stop fucking telling people to “check out the website” on issues. Every issue should be clear in one short sentence. People have lives to live. They’re not fucking going to the website. EVER.
