"Fit-shaming" is a thing I had to read with my own eyes today.
This is what happens when people discuss topics without power analysis.

I'm very familiar with the misogynoir associated with the shaming of muscular black women. This tweet was in direct response to someone nonblack who said "fit/thin-shaming" is a thing fat people do when discussing fatphobia.
Linguistically, I'm not sure that "fit shaming" describes the phenomenon in which muscular women are shamed for being muscular... I've never seen Serena shamed for being "fit". I've seen her shamed for being "muscular", "strong", "large" etc...
I think specificity is important when we talk about this stuff. Because thin ppl/gymbros *are* weaponising the term "fit-shaming" to silence valid fat positive politics. And that *can* be talked about, without dismissing the misogyn(oir)ist shaming of muscular women...
...which occurs with other language (e.g. muscular, large and more pejorative ones) - language that is different to "fit".
Like let's call the shaming of muscular women by the names that it *actually* is - racist, misogynoirist, heavily gendered BS, connected to transphobia etc, demonisation of masculine women, butchphobia, etc etc...
