Running around online screaming at every journalist and news outlet who states the simple fact Trump lost the election is now pissing away all the goodwill that was painstakingly built up over time.

I've had *multiple* journos tell me they've been getting harrassed over this.

If you're having a meltdown, demanding that democracy in *another country* be undermined and overturned because some ancient old nobody sold you lies and conspiracy theories, then you're not someone fighting for democracy here.

This is a time, more than ever, you should be watching and learning and seeing the inherent fragility of the democratic process, and how bad people will fight to overwhelm it. Except it isn't coming from the side you've been told it is.

And this really is all a conspiracy theory. Look at all those saying "unfollow HKFP" in the replies, because of one op-ed that claims Biden might (might) be a better ally. They don't even want to be told the result of a democratic election might benefit them.

"Don't give me hope that democracy over there might benefit me, overturn it so that I can keep hoping the guy who did nothing for me might start doing something for me."

And the conspiracy-mongering goes so deep that now no news outlet that exists can be trusted, because they all said Trump won. Even Fox. No social media platform can be trusted because they're slowly, through gritted teeth, starting to mark some (some) of Trump's lies.

So over on LIHKG they're pushing Gab and Parler, because Twitter can't be trusted now that everyone is laughing at the white nationalist getting voted out. Two Twitter replacements that are famous only for being infested with nazis.

I mean, Twitter doesn't ban the nazis here, but Apple and Google wouldn't carry the Gab app because it literally, and I do mean literally, became a place people started planning domestic terrorism.

So this isn't going to get better any time soon. Now we have to hope that Biden shows some spine to make them realise they were sold lies, but what we'll likely see is the Solomon Yue types taking all that nonsense and pushing a Cotton/Hawley "HK saviour" run in 2022.

The good news, is it remains a loud and obnoxious minority. The bad news is that they have to be treated as a threat to the movement for civil rights and freedoms and will need to be addressed. It's not just going to go away.

It wasn't like this in 2019. Things change fast.

I don't even think Joe Biden is very good. Like, at all. It's simply that Trump was that bad, that much of a threat to democracy and civil rights he had to go.

The US election isn't even about HK. It's about putting that flawed country back on the right track.

I understand needing to think about how it affects us. But so are many other countries. Making it *only* about us is ridiculous. There are another 190 countries out there also thinking about how it affects them, and almost zero are thinking about China.

This is why the fight must always be, everywhere, about standing FOR decent inclusive progressive values: democracy, civil rights, truth, kindness, and above all equality for ALL. Because nobody is free, until everybody is free.

So yeah, we've work to do cleaning our own house.
