2/ ▶ Govt should publish a public health strategy – how to achieve 5 extra years of healthy life by 2035.

The target is v ambitious, particularly with COVID-19 but it's a laudable ambition and needs a strategy across the whole of govt.

3/ ▶ PHE's non-health protection work should move into a new Institute of Health Improvement in @DHSCgovuk.

One of several options - none are perfect. This could work but we also need an independent voice for PH - where will that come from?
4/ ▶ Fund the PH Grant with a triple lock pegging it to NHS spend + inflation + GDP

Yes! We'll be publishing new figures on how much is needed to restore it pre-cut levels soon. Important that any review of how funding works consults closely with local authorities + @ADPHUK
5/ ▶ Local gov should continue as lead PH commissioner and regional PH leaders move into NHS regional offices.

Yes to local gov continuing as the main home of PH commissioning. Less sure about the regional level going into NHS. Key thing is close working with LAs.
6/ ▶ NHS ICS plan to set ambitious targets on health improvement and prevention.

Can’t argue with that! A really important area for the system to develop in the next few years.
7/ ▶ Closer working of national agency with local gov, using data to drive improvements in performance.

Less sure about this. PH "performance" is intrinsically hard to measure in short term. Need to avoid top down perf management and process targets (e.g. 4-week quits).
