in case it wasn’t clear to anyone; i’m 100% against formal education as it exists currently

[THREAD]
call me funny but i don’t think kids should be forced to do assessments or tests every two weeks. i don’t think that kids should be forced into doing subject that they have disdain for. education should be fun and inspiring, not something that pushes people to commit suicide
or have a nervous breakdown. the amount of funding a school gets shouldn’t depend on its geographical location or its position on the league tables. kids with learning difficulties shouldn’t get left behind bc kids who are excelling are being prioritised so that the schools
can move up the aforementioned league tables.

in year 6 i was the top of my year in english. myself and the others who were excelling in english were invited to come to extra english lessons while the kids who struggled were left with regular lessons and no support.
my younger cousin is dyslexic and has been given zero support in school. my nan has spent years trying to help her with her writing. she’s 12 now, still doesn’t get any support, and gets punished at school bc it takes her a while to finish her work bc of her dyslexia.
the education system as it exists right now is fucked up and i abhor it with a deep and seething passion. it does nothing to benefit children. it only serves to line the pockets of people who work on the school boards.
i’ve experienced both formal and informal education and i can 100% attest to the fact that when left to explore what you’re *actually* interested in, learning becomes a hell of a lot more enjoyable and rewarding.
